English Speaking Physio in Geneva?

Hi

Just arrived in town, and am struggling with a really painful nexk/shoulder/back.  Can anyone recommend a physio/therapist whose English is waaaaaay better than my French (I'm taking lessons, but I'm still not good enough to really explain medical history, etc)?

Thanks!

Vanessa

You could also ask the Medical Service of your UN agency for a recommendation.

Alternatively, if the pain is really unbearable, go to “La Tour” Hospital in Meyrin where all the professional staff speak English.

Also, their sports medicine department is excellent and they have a team of very skilled physiotherapists.

Best wishes, R.

Vanessa: I can also recommend the ostheopath Oliver Schmitt. He is brilliant and he does 'emergencies' (i.e. sees you on short notice).

Thanks for the reply Ritchie, but I'm not with a UN agency <<gasp>> Wink

Catarina, Xavier - I have an appt with Olivier tomorrow - which can't come soon enough!  Pain was so bad last night I had to anesthatise myself with a healthy dose of sleeping drugs to avoid being both in pain and totally exhausted.

I am a part-time massage therapist. this pain can go away with regular trigger-point therapy. Charges are only 10 franc per session!

I have seen Tom in the physiotherapy department at Hopital de la Tour with great success, and have recommended him to two friends who are also very happy. He speaks excellent english (even if he does have a scottish accent) and is very experienced. You can make an appointment without a referral, but if you want to get the money back from your insurance company you will need to get a doctor's prescription for the treatment which is usually in blocks of 9 sessions (over any amount of time) and billed at the end of the block.
