Dont know for other brands but for a Mac you just order via the website apple.ch - you have the choice of a French or Engish website to order from.
When you choose the model you are interested in,you will find listed different keyboards to choose from. For English keyboards there is a choice of a British, American, or English Interational keyboard.
Delivery (free), to your door about a month/5 weeks at the moment due to the present situation.

Forgot to mention, if you go onto the website of the Mac shop here in Geneva
https://www.apple.com/chfr/retail/ruederive/
you can also book a shopping session with someone by phone.

You'll get used to the french one. I struggled for just a month or two and now I struggle with UK keyboards as I find it so difficult to type simple french words with a UK keyboard. So ..unless you really don't anticipate using any french then go for an English keyboard.

Your best bet for a Mac is to order through the website for the Apple store in Geneva as suggested by TogJay
https://www.apple.com/chfr/retail/ruederive/
if you want an alternative and if you want to go in person to a shop, you can go to Art Computer, an authorized seller, which tends to have less of a wait.
https://www.artcomputer.ch/?lang=en
I would strongly recommend getting the keyboard you are used to. This year, I tried getting one with a French keyboard, both to reduce the wait and to have the benefit of some of the symbols, like €, ç, accented letters and the like. BIG MISTAKE. It is not just the few different symbols and the location of a couple of the keys. Some important key, like SHIFT to capital and the CAPS lock keys as well as the return key are smaller (narrower), and, to this day, even though I have gotten used to the other changes, I keep hitting the keys neighboring the SHIFT, CAPS and return keys. And you use those three keys constantly.
At the very least, if you want to consider changing to a non-english keyboard, go to the shop, try it out, and write a bit, at the speed you normally would and see how it feels.

Thanks for the inputs everyone but I don't use a Mac - i-phone is enough apple for now - so its a classic PC laptop with windows I'll be using.Plus I've tried German and Fench keyboards in the past and yes you get used to them but if I dont have to I'd pefer not to ... so still looking for help/advise on this matter.

Check out Galaxus.ch. In their Notebook section below, click on Filter - "Keyboard layout" and they will show you everything with English Int, US and UK keyboard layouts ????
