I'm currently taking a course on how to become independent. This is provided by the unemployment office in Fribourg. They give you a 10 day course about everything you need to open your own business. I find it very helpful, but it is all in French of course. They also do consulting to individuals

I recently restructured a business and met directly with;
Geneva Economic Development Office
Rue des Battoirs 7
P.O. Box 740
1211 Geneva 4
+41 22 388 34 34
They were extremely helpful (in English) desribing the markets, Geneva business enviroment and possible business frameworks to consider.
Take a look at the site http://www.whygeneva.ch/
Most importantly (in my opinion) find a good fudiciare that you can communicate well with and that fully understands your business sector. For instance my fudiciare has core business with construction and renovation companies.
