Expensive General Practitioner

Hi All!

I had some troubles with doctor billings, and I thought maybe someone a bit more experienced could give me a heads up about this.

I have been in Geneva for quite some time now, and I always felt that it is pretty stressful that every time you go to a doctor, you never know how much they will bill you. And I find it also a bit crazy that general practitioners sometimes are even more expensive than the specialist doctors.

Do you know if 300 francs for a less-than-10 minutes consultation to a general practitioner is average? It seems really out of scale, also comparing with other experiences I had. I also tried to call the cabinet but they said they can't do anything about it. I don't know, do you have any experience about this? And could you suggest a good general practitioner who is not that expensive?

Hi,

This seems to me an excessive amount for less than 10 minutes.

Look at the details of the services (TARMED) billed. That way you can easily see whether the number of minutes billed corresponds to reality (check the quantity column).

If there is a mistake on the bill, you should send a registered letter to the doctor's to dispute it. Be sure to keep the post office receipt as proof of posting.
