Experience with insurance termination?

Hi all,

I left our beloved Switzerland a couple of months ago, and before doing so I made sure that I terminated my health insurance with Swisscare. I provided the document that they asked for and I received a letter stating that my contract is terminated.

Now, I've recently received three emails by them asking me to provide a different document for my contract to be terminated (?!).

I've replied twice already that my contract *is* terminated, not to mention that they never mentioned additional documents when I asked them about the process, but I don't get any clear answer about what they consider my status to be at the moment.

I hope that it's just a paperwork mistake and everything will be ok. But I'm preparing myself just in case some heavy artillery might be needed. So I'd like to ask you whether you've had any similar experience...

Best,

Helen

Hi,

normally when leaving the country, you have to provide a certificate of departure from population office (OCP) which mentions the exact date of departure so they can cancel your contract with your bank account details in case they have to reimburse you any unused premium.

As you already have received a confirmation of cancellation, there should not be any additional documents necessary.

I suggest you send me a copy of the confirmation of cancellation and the letter/email that you have last received so I may what can be done for you.

regards

Aymeric, thank you for the help!

I hope that it turns out to be a mistake; if not, I'll write to you...

(For the record and for people who might need to keep an eye on this in the future, I wasn't asked for the certificate of departure in the "first round" but provided a document about returning my residence card.)

Thanks again.
