Hi all,
I'm a keen quilt maker, and I'm running out of fabric fast.
Does anyone know of fabric or craft shops in Geneva or Nyon?
Thanks,
Rachel

Try “Gras” in rue Coutance, opposite an entrance to Manor.
They have a good selection but the prices are high.
There used to be an outlet in Balexert but I’m not sure if it’s still there.
All in all, it’s better to go to France, Annecy in particular, because of the choice and cost. And Lyon is of course is the place to go for fabrics. Well worth the train fare.
Good luck! R.

Thank you so much for all your suggestions. I'll head out next week and see what fabrics I can find.
I definitely like the idea of a day trip to Lyon though, with added fabric shopping!
Thanks all.
Rachel.

Just for the record, patchwork shops sell goods for patchworking.
“Merceries” (haberdashers in English) sell dressmaking and sewing accessories such as elastic, buttons, threads, shoulder pads, etc., etc. They don’t normally stock bolts of material to make clothes, cushions, curtains, etc., but they may well be able to recommend a good place to go.

there is a large store in Annemasse (right on the other side, in the industrial centre) whose name escapes me for the moment. I will try to find out and get back to you. But they had a lot of stuff for quilting and patchwork. Their dress-making selection was a bit more limited. Try also sewing machine shops, they sometimes have fat quarters.
Online, there is alfatex.de, komolka.at and etsy.com - but you might need to figure around customs tax if ordering large supplies. And ebay of course. Re online, I realise that most of the pleasure is touching the fabric, but desperate times etc
Good lucl

Hi Rachel
I'm a Geneva based sewing enthusiast too. I've put a little page on my blog listing the fabric shops (real life and online) that I've found useful:

If you find any more good ones, I'd love to know about them!!
All the best
