Family Planning in Geneva

Hi all,

Moved to Geneva this month for work on a semi-permanent basis and trying to get to grips with everything that's different to the UK!  Quick question if any of you ladies out there know the process for coming by the Pill over here - do I need to visit a regular doctor or is there some kind of clinic instead?  Is it free like in the UK or will I have to pay and claim back on my medical insurance?

Thanks for any help!

Emma

I'm afraid but the previous reply is wrong, you do need a prescription here for the pill. Usually you would ask your GP or gynecologist for that but if you don't have one yet and need the pill quickly you can also take an appointment at the hospital (Maternité HUG), they have a family planning clinic.

Unfortunately you have to pay it out of your own pocket...

Another option would be to use condomsEmbarassed..a great family planning tool plus no side effects and you will be protected from sexually transmitted diseases including HIV..and no doctors' prescription required! Good luck!
