Hi Anni,

I think you do need some license, but that the risk of fishing without one is very low.

Are you a good fisherwoman? I'm dying to find someone who is able to teach me the basics...

Dont know if you went or not but here is my two cents.

In short its typically Swiss and anal with regards to rules and regulations. I used to fish a lot in the UK and now cant even be bothered its just hassle.

You can buy a day permit to fish the river, lac or whatever online but these cost I think from last summer CHF10 a day and are specific to either a lac, river or etang.. You cant get one for them all unless you get a fishing license which its semi residential run about twice a year and in Lausanne where they teach you stuff "you should know" and then are examined on it. All in French so unless you have a specific knowledge of frech fishing lingo its a shambles.

Also you need to be on the ball with where the river starts and ends, correct tackle, correct permits etc etc etc

And dont even get me started on the catch and kill policy which is supposed be adhered to.

They will fine you hard if you dont have the correct papers, tackle and are fishing for the wrong things so just be warned you read everything. There is a nice little fishing shop up from Jonction by the river which has some info maybe try there if you didnt already sort it out.

Anni,

I think the Admins will say that this is not a dating site.
So beware of the trolls and fishermen.
I heard in the Glocals pipeline, one of the worst is this Nir guy.
As he said he wants to be taught the basics, but he is 'King fisher'.
hehehehehe

Thanks, I didn’t know you were Nir’s private factotum.

However, I regret to have to tell you that “23 pm” doesn’t exist, so perhaps you’d better get back to your exercise books or you’ll be receiving your marching orders.

Don't let Dave's fantasies about fish lead you in the wrong direction...

Seriously, if you know how to fish and you're willing to to teach me, I'd be thrilled to join.

Nir, wannabe fisherman

Hi Guys,

It is indeed a fun prospect to go fishing, especially with usual Swiss support.

''Each canton is responsible for issuing its own fishing permits or licences and the regulations vary according to the area, and to whether the licence is for lake or river fishing.Permits sold allow fishing for a single day, a week, a month or a full year. The permit rates vary from canton to canton, furthermore a permit must be bought specific to each fishing area, as there are different prices for each lake and river.Always consult the local cantonal office before fishing; there are penalties for fishing without a licence. The Animal Protection Law of 1 January 2009 states that anyone wishing to obtain a fishing permit in Switzerland must prove that they have sufficient knowledge regarding fish and crayfish. To do so they must follow a short training course and obtain an Attestation de compétence or Sachkundenachweis (SaNa). For further information on the training required and to find a course............''

Full info and links are here: http://www.lifeingeneva.com/#!summer-sports/c1jj1

Hope it helps,

Well, they say one learns something new every day, so thanks for your input.

You don’t happen to have any spare “Dave’s” by any chance?  I could do with a bit of

pampering.

Oh Richie, your right as ususal, 23pm is not a valid time format. It is either 23h00 or 11pm. Wow your so freaking smart, I own you another bottle of Malt Liquor.

There is a good fishing shop in eaux vives.

There are also options for fishing trout in the mountains on lakes, nice in summer.

One does need to know the seasons for fish, and which fish are catch and release and how many you can take  etc... courses are useful for beginners.

Nir, you should go to Vallorbe with your son and go pond fishing for trout using sweetcorn and 1m line on a stick... if that captures you, then suggest investing in the rods etc and courses...

Shame fly fishing is not so common here...

Charlie:

Thanks bro. I took the kid twice already to fish in the lake, but both of us had no idea what we were doing and caught nothing. I think I have a last chance to get the kid into fishing, and this time we HAVE to catch something!

This Vallorbe thing sounds good, but I have no idea exactly where to go, how to make the fishing knots, and how (if god finally helps us) to remove a fish if it ever bites. You game for coming with us as a guide? All expenses on me.

I heard there are also ponds made especially for fishing, where the owner fills the ponds with fish and you pay the owner for each fish you catch. Appearantly you have to work hard not to catch one in these ponds...Any idea where one of these would be?

Thanks,

Nir
