Food bank in Geneva?

Does the food bank concept exist in Geneva? We are moving away and have lots of non-perishable food items - pasta, flour, rice, sugar, vinegar, oils etc - most of them are opened packets/containers but only half used and it seems such a waste to throw them away. Can anyone tell me of somewhere to donate food?

Thanks,

Kate

There are regular ads on glocals for volunteers to help provide meals for the homeless. Whoever organizes that might appreciate your donations. You could use the search functions to find these 'feed the needy' ads.

There is a soup kitchen on the rue de Montbrilliant just opposite the hotel Montbrilliant by the station, which might appreciate these items. Have you also thought of perhaps filling up boxes with them and leaving them in neighbourhoods such as the Paquis for people to take. You would be surprised at what people could use.

Hi Kate, did you find somewhere to donate your food to in the end?  I will be in a similar situation in a few weeks.
