Foreigner Tax

Hi All,

I paid my foreigner tax this year, but for some reason I can't find either the small rectangular square, or the sheet with the information on the tax it was attached to. Does anyone know if there is a way to request proof of this payment? I can't find it on the Administration Fiscal's website. Thanks!

I am here as a student and do not work, so the canton charges me and everyone else in my situation (foreigner, student, and unemployed) 25chf per year as a tax to the canton.

One has to wonder if the collection of a 25 Sfr tax is worthwhile.

Yes, but I must pay it or face a situation with poursuite! I have paid it every year since I've been here.

My question is really whether anyone has tried to receive a copy or proof of payment of a bill they paid to the tax office.

I am trying to get a CFF carte journaliere, and they require a proof of residence alongside the residence permit: a SIG bill, a rent payment, or proof of paid taxes. I cannot use my SIG bill or rent slip because I am subletting and the bill does not have my name on it. Thus, as I mentioned, I can't find the small pay stub indicating that I paid this tax, and I was wondering if anyone knows whether it is possible for the tax administration to issue a proof of payment or something similar. Sorry for the lack of clarity!

If you have paid this tax every year, you should have the receipts for your previous payments, in which case you will find the name of the collection office on the receipt stub.

With that info, you can find the address, etc., on the web, and then telephone or write to them to ask for a duplicate receipt for 2013.

If, for any reason, you can’t find the coordinate of the collection office, ask for help at your university.

Best, R.
