Found: Bagels in Geneva (well, Ferney-Voltaire)
Greetings,

A month or so ago, I asked about bagels in Geneva. The answers were not comforting.

A few people mentioned Starbucks - expensive and, to me, leave a little aftertaste. Not good.

I also found some fresh bagels in a Coop near that 'famous' ice cream, ahem gelato, store which just closed for the winter.

But, a few days ago, I found the best option so far. Picards in Ferney-Voltaire. They are a frozen goods store and sell bags of four bagels. Yesterday (and today!), I defrosted one in the microwave for 2x 1.5 minutes then toasted it, slathered on the cream cheese and .... voila!!!! The best bagel I've had in years!

It's not Bethesda Bagels, but man, it was yummy!

Computer Problems? I can help. Just send me a messsage.

I am crazy about bagels and I suggest you to test the ones from Edward's. It's a small restaurant with great sandwiches and ... wonderful bagels. :)

I cannot stop going there, they are too good! :D

For those of you looking for 'New York' style bagels Glocal member 'Ninel' bakes homemade bagels in a variety of flavors (plain, honey-wholewheat, blueberry, cinnamon-raisin, parmagiano, onion, sesame and poppyseed.)  He delivers to your home and office within Geneva.

To place an order email [email protected] or call his portable 079.463.09.12.

He has an ad somewhere in the 'market place' forum to access his PDF form.  This is where I first encountered his bagels and haven't turned back since!

Best of luck in 'The Great Bagel Quest!'  :D

but do they have rasin bagels? onion bagels? or everything bagel?

maybe I'll arrange a sunday bagel gathering with 'the works' as we say back home (cream cheese, loxs, herring). but the problem is that these CoOp and other places are not open on sundays, right? the bagel phenomena finally kicked off in Japan few years ago, and even London has some bagel specialty stores, but guess continental europe is not yet ready for these donut breads. :hmmm:

True, but they did have a long shelf life...till January next year. These did seem to made in Germany(when we lived in Frankfurt we no problem finding them).

The only downside was not being to find the good flavours i.e onion and raisin!:hehe:
