France Bank card in Geneva Atm

Hi,

I have a bank card issued by Société Générale in France equipped with VISA. Can I use this card in Geneva's bank to take money in CHF currency?

Do you know how much will they charge in general? Could you recommend to me a bank in Geneva where I can take money in CHF with very small commision? I'm now considering between buying CHF in France or taking CHF from Geneva and I was told that the latter is the better one, is it?

Thanks!

I think the amont they will charge depends on your bank and the sort of card you have with them. You can find it in some booklet they gave you or on your bank's website. It will tell you what happens when you withdraw money in another currency. It will probably be something like a percentage commission with possibly a minimum charge.

If you will do this a lot in the future it might be easiest to open a bank account in CHF. Some Franch banks offer a bank account in both EUR and CHF as well.

Thank you for the suggestions. By the way, just want to verify, I will be arriving on the first of august, which is actually the national day of Swiss. The atm's machine should be working right?
