The world's largest annual event on books is on and ending on 10th October. I am seriously considering a trip to Frankfurt on 8th (Friday) and returning 10th (Sunday). My trip will be exclusively for the book fair, though if anyone else interested in travelling together and renting a hostel / hotel together please contact me.
