French course in geneva

I have checked out the courses at ecole club (mirgos) but they're offering B2 only for a month. I am looking for something I can do for a couple of months (2-3 months) and something that's intense. Also some thoughts about how useful these intensive courses are? I have a level of B1 and I want to get it to B2 so that i can pass the entrance exam at Geneva university.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Price is a matter of perception: Migros charges chf 30 per hour for group classes, where you will have 5mn to express yourself or ask questions. That ends up being the most expensive 5mns of French class you will pay for. Do the maths.

One-to-one teaching is tailored to the pupil’s needs and ability.  It is intensive, so the labourer is worthy of his or her hire – especially when you consider that a cleaning lady, who may not even be literate, can cost CHF 30/h in Geneva.

haha i'm taking those useless classes alreadeh.

@hay_: I agree with you but my friend is taking those ecole club classes and it's very effective though the problem for me is that a month isn't enough for me to get to B2 i guess.

Just fyi the migros ecole classes might be listed for a month but call them, normally what happens is that their courses are continuous and follow on month after month, they just list them in such a fashion that you can choose how long to pay at a time and can then choose to continue or not.  I found the course there to be very good but expensive; you are effectively paying for the well kitted out classes, the technology etc, which in fact isnt in the least bit necessary for language work.  However, their teachers at Balexert are great.

As a teacher and a former language student I would really recommend beginners to attend group classes to learn the basics, and then move on to individual lessons for more targetted feedbacks and tailored teaching.

Hi Nabeel,

I offer French classes using Skype to students of all levels.

The 2 main adantages of this system is that the classes are 100% adapted to the specific needs of the student. We practice grammar, vocabulary, conversation, reading, etc.. It is very important to know why a person wants to learn French, so that I can adapt the classes accordingly and so that the student gets the most out of it.

The second big advantage is of course the time advantage. Using Skype allows you to follow classes from anywhere, work, train, home,... It can be a productive break at work and you dont lose time travelling.

I offer 1 free test class so that i can explain better how I work and so that the student can see if he/she is comfortable wirh it.

For additional information, you can visit my site www.francaisatwork.com.

Have a nice day,

Olivier Nyssen
