French "foyer"

Can someone please tell me what a "foyer" is in French? Not the translation, but what kind of place it is - I understand it's like a juvenile hall or place for juvenile delinquents. Any help appreciated.

It has several meanings....  but one of them is, like you mention, a place for juvenile delinquents.

In which context the word is used ?

I am specifically looking for information about a foyer as it relates to teenagers who may be sent there because of difficulties at home.

I am looking for information very specifically about a place that juveniles who are out of control are sent. Not all the above definitions. I would like to have contact with someone who knows what I mean. Please.

Actually, it gives some good stats but I am trying to find out what the situation actually is in a foyer. Criminal kids, counseling, what.
