Garages in Central Geneva

Hi all, I took my car to Elio de Toro garage on Place Camoletti in Eaux Vives and they charged me CHF 480 to change my battery and recode my keys. It looks like a fairly reputable place but this price strikes me as absolutely crazy.

Am I over reacting or is this fairly standard?

Any adice much appreciated, thanks.

remember : you are in Geneva, Switzerland. Expensive prices are standard.

more seriously, batteries are quite expensive. I never bought them (motorbike and car) from garages

next time go to http://www.feuvert.fr/

its a standard garage for wheels, tires, batteries, car stereo systems, etc.

and much cheeper than swiss price.

Further its virtually impossible for frontallier/douanne to know that your radio is new and charge you. Unless you find that getting a French TVA/VAT refund is more interesting and then declaring at the Swiss boarder to pay the lower VAT.

or get it from Jumbo-Brico near conforama.

Re-coding keys are all available in your owners manual or you can probably find it in youtube or the manufacturer's website.

These are, more or less, Geneva Prices... my battery (motorbike) cost 200.- so... welcome in this expensive town... but your salary should be also higher than the average in France, Italy, Germany etc.... I hope ;-)...
