Looking forward to joining the group.  I am, by no means, an artist - I can't even draw a straight line!  However, I did study art/fashion in New York and have a few friends that are in the biz.  I appreciate each piece of work as a story and I'm looking forward to the upcoming events.  Yay, finally!

Yes, this particular "Dreams" piece of  artwork above is a story in itself and both the poem and artwork are well connected to my oil & acrylic painting. I am calling this the "Words and Colours" Series. It would be interesting to keep your NY friends in the loop as well and do tell them about this Art Connect Group. On the 31st I will be having my poetry reading event and introduce this concept of "Words and Colours". The details are on Glocals.

Next Thursday 28th April "Geneva Art Connect Group" will meet at 7 p.m. for the first time over drinks. The venue has not been decided yet. Suggestions are welcome on any nice wine bar not too noisy, since the whole purpose is to meet and discuss. If you know of any art gallery who would be willing to have us and can arrange please do let me know. It would be interesting to talk about art,artists, the general art scene in Geneva. Those of you who would like to share your artwork, paintings,photographs,sketches drawings please bring them if you like. Then lets take it from there we can plan the future events as well. This is David Lawson's photograph. It is really interesting and is being used as the Geneva Art Connect photograph for now. He has copy right over it, so please do not use without his knowledge. I found this particularly interesting and thought provoking, since there is not much it tells you when you first look at and at first glance you cannot even decipher what it is. Perhaps this dark and mysterious element to it, evokes the interest. When I first looked at it, I thought it was this dark mysterious black rose and to that I wrote a poem:

You are death, You are a black rose

You may mean so many things to so many people

You are full of mysteries

And you cast shadows

in this fantasy of life 

You tell a story

You have shared pasts of many lives

You devour secrets

You tell me so many unsaid things

This is what I thought. No poem is ever complete so this is something where I would start talking about my concept of "Words and Colours". It is so simple as artists we see forms,shapes,colours,amorphous figures all the time. We create, think, design. As poets and writers we play with words and these web of ideas helps us express our emotions.

The first Geneva Art Connect activity Thursday evening 7:00 p.m. on 28th April. Lets meet for our first drink  to talk about art. Enoteca wine bar along the shores of Lac Leman  has a wonderful view,wine tasting delicious wines, enjoying the weather and some tapas to go with it. Could life get any better!

The idea is to share artwork such as: photographs,paintings,drawings,information about whats happening in Geneva. Anyone would like to make a presentation also very welcome.
