'best' depends on your personal priorities. but for me, when going to paris it's almost always train.

geneva - paris by direct train is 3.5 hours, costs chf 250 (170 if you have 'demi-tarif'), and gets you right into the center of paris. and it's stress free, and you have to get the station 15 min before departure, not 1 hour like when you fly. here are the train times: www.cff.ch

you might be able to get slightly cheaper fairs if you book way in advance with www.easyjet.ch, but then you have the hassle and stress of flying and of delays, you get to Orly airport which is out of the city, and you'll most probably end up with flights in early morning or late night if you want the cheap easyjet flights.

Train and plane are roughly the same, with a slight advantage to train (unless you travel first class which is quite nicer especiallyif you're tall -- an extra 30 Euros if you are lucky). This being said and speaking of experience, a return trip by train the same by train is boring -- that's 7 hours alltogether! I'd rater fly then.

Book on the TGV web site rather thatn on CFF's. It's got more deals.

Honestly, I have no idea. Again, the best would be to chek the TGV web site (in english) or call the SNCF (French Railways)

fully agree. if you're planning just a day trip, then fly.

by the way, you can also drive there, if you're going for a few days: 5 hours and you're there.
