Hi,
Despite the warm stretch ski season (hopefully) is just around the bend. What is the best ski / winter sports shop in the Geneva area?

Penseyres-Sports Rue de Neuchâtel 7, 1201 Genève 022 732 98 34
Its kinda odd inside but good.
The best ski shop bar none in the broader Geneva area is Au Vieux Campeur in Thonon. It also benfits from non ludicrous swiss pricing...

The website looks rather like it was built in 1985 unfortunately...l

Try Decathlon in the Annemasse area - doing all sports, serious with very reasonable prices

There's isn't a "best" ski shop and no one can answer that question as I doubt anyone here has visited every shop in Geneva and carefully done an assessment of them! If the shop you are looking for qualifies as a "ski shop" i.e. sells skis then they will be able to guide you accordingly - and no doubt in English also.
If you're after a particular brand then do a yellow page search- of ski shops in Geneva (I've done it for you) http://yellow.local.ch/fr/q/gen%C3%A8ve/ski.html of which there are 34 and if you ask they're owner or staff they will most probably tell you that they're all the "best". Do you think you'll be okay making the calls?

Blimey, calm down, its just a simple question for some advice as to a good ski shop!
Just steer clear of Hofstetter, although a very good selection, bloomin expensive!

True, depending on what equipment you need, there is no one stop shop. You need to shop around and see who was the best prices for the gear you you seek. My personal opinion, if you know what you want/need, shop online or when you travel abroad (esp US or Canada). Swiss prices in this field are ridiculously expensive in this field.
Example: I got a new snowboard in the US for $250. The same one is sold for 750 CH in Switzerland.
The only time when it makes senses to go to a shop is if you are a complete beginner and you have lots of questions and no idea of the settings you need. I got my first board from Athleticum in Meyrin and went back about 1000 times to change settings. They were always patient and helpful so I can only recommend them.
I hope this helps.

Agree with Catalin!
The biggest US website for this sort of thing is www.backcountry.com They have an outlet site as well http://www.departmentofgoods.com/
As indicated above the pricing is amazing (I bought Norrona Jacket 76% off at $125). You may run into issues regarding shipping as a lot of the US websites won't ship certain brands out of the US (Burton snowboards, Arc'Teryx, etc etc).
You can get around this with www.bundlebox.com as I did.

Hi everyone,
You should really try out Oschner sports. They have quite a few outlets throughout the canton and their biggest store is smack bam in the center on the rue du Marché. What is interesting about them is that they have an online shop which ships for free from 200chf.
The best thing about Oschner, especially for the ski season is that from the 15th of November to the 11th of December, you get 20% off EVERYTHING in the store on the one condition that you subscibe to become a member of Swiss Ski (approx. 50chf and can be done at any store-reduction available immediately).View info here:
http://memberservice.swiss-ski.ch/app/ui/main/index.php?page=ShopProductDetails&id=180
There is also an advantage of becoming a member of Swiss Ski as they offer tons of other promotions related to the ski season such as reductions on ski passes for certain resorts, etc. View info here:
