Geneva's statistic about foreigners

In downtown Geneva, in the neighborhoods of City Centre, Saint-Gervais-Chantepoulet, Délices-Grottes and Pâquis-Navigation, one inhabitant in two, 51.6% to be exact, is a foreign national.

In City neighborhood Pâquis-Nations holds the record for foreign population with just 60%.


Other urban ex-communes, which merged in the 30s to form the current city of Geneva show all above the cantonal average proportions: Petit-Saconnex 47.2%, Plainpalais 47%, Eaux-Vives 43,4%.


One area of ​​the City of Geneva, Florissant Malagnou falls below the cantonal average with 39.8%.


The most common "Swiss" of the township is Avusy with only 12.9% of foreigners.


In six other smaller municipalities, the Swiss population exceeds 80% of the population.


This is Laconnex, Confignon, Puplinge, Aire-la-Ville and Soral.

This information takes into account registered foreigners. If you count the "clandestines", the rates are much higher, especially in the centre.


Besides this, many Swiss nationals migrate to neighbourhood France as it has become impossible to find a flat in our canton at a decent price.

Totally correct! For instance of my many friends, colleagues and acquaintances I only know a couple of genuine Genevois.
