Hello glocals members !
For the 5th consecutive year, the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride will be organized on September, 25th in more than 90 countries and 450 cities. The movement was created in 2012 in Australia to combat the often-negative stereotype of men on motorcycles. Inspired by a photo of Mad Men’s Don Draper on a classic bike and wearing his finest suit, a first themed ride was organized that year. Following its success it was decided that Gentlemen would support a worthy cause and that they would ride once a year on their classic and vintage motorcycles wearing their best tweed, cravats and bow ties.
This year, the aim is to raise awareness and USD 5,000,000 funds for men’s health, more specifically prostate cancer research and male suicide prevention.
Our Geneva based association, Gentlemen GVA, will also support the cause by organizing a party at Cercle de Bains from 13h00 to 17h00. It will include concerts, photo and
drawing exhibition, bikes showroom, stands and more. All the profits will be donated to prostate cancer research.
How can you support?
First and above all, by spreading the message among your male friends and family about being checked up. This is really important since it is our goal! Contact me through a glocals email for more information on the association and
its aim or check the Gentlemen’s Ride website.
By helping with the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride Party that will take place on
September, 25th from 10h00 to 17h00 at Cercle des Bains in Geneva. We are looking for volunteers to:
Set up and dismantle the scene, the art exhibition and the bar. We need 6 people so volunteers are not too overloaded so they can enjoy while working :) :)
Bar: we are looking as well for 5 or 6 people to be responsible of the bar during the Party (they will work on turns).
Parking: we need three people to guide the 200-250 Gentlemen that will arrive with
their bikes for the showroom.
Do not hesitate to write me if you need any further information abouit the organisation or on how to become a volunteer !
Cheers,
Adriana
