I have a weird problem... being a semi-professional windsurfer I need to surf every now and then (okay, I am a pain in the ass if I don`t but that`s another story). Now I am "stuck" here in Geneva until at least mid-April.. where there`s a lot of lakes, most of which do have wind every now and then, but I have no way of getting there. Train is generelly really expensive, but even if it wasn`t.. I will have tons of surfgear I need to take. And it does not fit into a car.
My boyfriend has a car in Germany, but needs it. Other than that we have a motorbike (does not work either). So what is the cheapest way to get to the other lakes (Biel, Murten, stuff like that)? Buy a cheap car? Can I register it here as a German citizen? What do I need and how much does it cost? Car-sharing? How complicated is that? Or just the plain, but really expensive rental car?
We`re talking about maybe two weekends (or days) a month to places less than 200kms away and maybe a trip to Marseille (or close) in Nov/Dec/Jan.
Help me, it is windy... I am in baaad moood and the rentals close for the winter at the end of September.

You'd probably be best off regsitering on Mobility.ch and using the car sharing service. Its super easy just make sure you book in advance on weekends as it tens to get full. You can either get a membership (at discount rate sif you haeva SBB or Migors card) or do the click and drive option which is the simplest of all. You pay 45 - 50 chf for first 3 hours and 10 chf every hour after that. 15 chf extra for extra insurance and petrol is included. By far cheaper than most other rental options.
Hope this helps!
