Getting document certified

Hi !

I have been asked to send off a certified copy of one of my certificates. I assume this just mean that someone has to sign the photocopy and state that this is  “true and fair copy of the original document”. The problem is that I don’t know any accountants/lawyers/doctors in Geneva (apart from me, but I assume I can’t sign it myself!!) so I will have to pay for someone to do it. Does anyone know where I can go (I am scared of going to lawyers and being charged hundreds for it) that won’t cost an arm and a leg???

Thanks!

Mary

Thank you thank you thank you!!

I called and they do it (Just a hint, if anyone tries to call the british consulate, just don't press any buttons and you get through to a real person, as otherwise it seems next to impossible).

They are also conveniently located opposite to where I work!!

Any post office can certify your documents or your identity papers. It cost about Frs. 20.- or go to the bank where you have an account, they can do it for free if you are their customers.

Hi Mary,

I need something certified (that I live in my house!) to prove that I am not money laundering when we sell our house in the UK. How much would you charge to do it? and where are you?

If I was in the UK this would be so easy. Sometimes I feel like nothing is simple anymore!

THanks,

Debs

Hi Debs , as Jackie said, you can go to any post office and get a passport or proof of address certified, for around 20 CHF. You take the orginal, and they give you a certified copy, easy. They are considered a 'suitable certifier' for anti money laudering purposes. Cheers,

Phillip
