I am moving to Geneva in mid-August and I was wondering if there was anyone who would be able to help me with some details regarding golf and basketball (not very similar sports I know, but I love them both).
Golf: Do they do pay-and-play in Switzerland or do you have to join a club? Had to give up golfing while I lived in Belgium as the bureaucracy was incredible (you had to take both a written and a practical exam before they would allow you to play). Also can anyone recommend a club?
Basketball: I have been playing since I was about 15 and I would love to find a place in Geneva where I could play? Just looking for something fun and relaxing, nothing too serious.
Thank you in advance!
Julian

There are lots of courses in and around Geneva, in Swtzerland and in France. My all times fav (I was a member for 10 years) is the Golf de Giez, in the Annecy area (1h from Geneva), a beautiful mountain course where the people are very friendly.
There are lots of others too but this one is worth the drive :)

there's a course about 30 mins from Geneva that I'm playing on Tuesday. I think the fees are about 75 francs for the round, no membership necessary. I played there last week as well. nice course, a bit short, at 5500 meters, par 70.
If you think you might want to join me on tuesday, let me know. I'm driving

Would like to but unfortunately I have to work tuesday (am pretty much only free weekends or early evenings during the week). I went to visit Signal de Bougy and it seems quite nice and not too expensive so might join there.
