Great Escalade Gifts
Today at the AIWC Christmas Lunch, I met Jacqueline Cooper - a very interesting, talented, and humorous Geneva-based author and illustrator. Jacque told me that back in 1997, she was looking for a children's book to explain the Escalade to her grandson. She looked all over Geneva, but couldn't find anything. Instead of giving up, she decided to write and illustrate her own. That's how
Toby & The Escalade and Kevin & the Escalade Race came to be.

Each book is bilingual - with English and French on the same page. The graphics and colors are captivating, the page size is nice and roomy, and there's just enough of information and history inside the story itself to learn and be entertained. I read through both of them today, and highly recommend them for kids of all ages (including my thirtysomething self :)

You can get these books at the Payot Chantepoulet and Off The Shelf at 15 blvd Georges Favon 1204 Geneva {Plainpalais}. Sun. & Mon. Closed, Tue.-Fri 9am-6:30pm and Sat. 10am-5pm

If you'd like to learn more about Jacque and her work, she is part of the Geneva Writer's Group at http://www.genevawritersgroup.org/cooper.html.

If you're curious about the American International Women's club, I'm a new member as of November, and can tell you that I'm disappointed I waited 18 months to join. People complain about the 300 CHF membership fee, but to put it in perspective . . . in Geneva, that's one nice dinner out. . . http://www.aiwcgeneva.org/

Bon Weekend!
