Hi Matt,
Maybe not for you. I'm writing in defense of Swissbody because I know them, they have a lot of integrity and it'd be a shame if their reputation was damaged unduly. 130 an hour is not an extortionate rate. There are cheaper teachers but 130 is not robbery.
The reason for the screening via private classes is not simply to cash in. It may not be necessary in your case but it's really just to ensure that clients have a sound grasp of the technique and can work safely in the group. I often meet new students who come to class with a self-assessed intermediate level in yoga or Pilates, but who are really lacking in fundamental technique or working with misalignment. It slows the whole group down to focus on teaching them the basics. So a pre-assessment is actually doing everyone a favour, as it means the group classes work at a higher level.
Not suggesting this is the case with you, but it does happen. Good luck in finding a more suitable class :-)
