Re: Guide to Caves Ouvertes 2011

If it's your first time I'd go to either Satigny or Dardagny, because those two places are best to taste the atmosphere.
Several winemakers in Dardagny have set up big tables in their fields so you can have a seat with a glass of wine in your hand, (hopefully) enjoy the weather and watch the crowd. Right in the center of Dardagny there's a cluster of winemakers that are impossible to miss. Hutins, Centaure and Pins make excellent wines but so do several others in Dardagny so you may just want to see which setup (tables, crowds) you like best. The big drawback of Dardagny is that both train (to Russin) and shuttle bus are overly crowded.
Satigny is easier in that you don't need to take a shuttle bus, though you still have to endure the crowd in the train. The domaines are a bit further apart but still within easy walking distance. I can recommend Domaine du Paradis; not only because they're partnering with us (Geneva Uncorked) for a couple of events, but also because they make excellent wines and their wine expert (Didier) is great to talk to (in English). Other notable winemakers around Satigny are Champvigny (in Boudigny), which arguably has the most beautiful domaine in the region, and several in Peissy (Bossons, Charmes).
See the guide (linked above) for addresses and to print a map.
