Hard to find batteries
Dear All:

I have been looking for AAAA (even thinner than the AAAs) batteries in several Geneva stores to no avail. Is anybody aware of shops that might carry these?

Thanks,

Sceicco

I assume that you have already checked the big Fust store and the Interdiscount XXL on Rue du Marche? They might be able to order them if they do not have them in stock.

These batteries are also used in a model of the Swiss Army knife that has a laser pointer in it. There is a store also on Rue du Marche beside the Co-op that sells all sorts of knives. You might check there.

Depending on how many you might need and your timing, you could buy them via ebay.ch. Here is a link:

They are also available via a specialty electronics store called Distrelec.ch Normally you need an account with them to order so this would be a last option.

Good luck.

i was curious about these batteries, as i've never come across them before. so, check this out from wikipedia, esp. the 9 volt battery hack!!!

The AAAA battery (usually read as quadruple-A) is 42.5 mm long and 8.3 mm in diameter, weighing around 6.5 g. This battery is also classified as LR8D425 (IEC) and 25A (ANSI/NEDA). The battery is also known by its Duracell type number MN2500 or MX2500 and Energizer type number E96.

This battery size is most often used in devices requiring small batteries such as laser pointers, LED penlights, powered computer styli, glucose meters, and small headphone amplifiers. These batteries are not as popular as AAA or AA type batteries, and can be quite hard to find. A typical 9 volt battery consists of a bundle of six AAAA cells inside, connected together by welded tabs.[1][2]

The AAAA is also available in a PCB Tagged version, 8.4mm x 66mm, weighing 10.5g. These tagged AAAA batteries are NiMH rechargeable as such will charge from the PCB they are soldered onto.

No AAAA batteries at Interdiscount XXL (Crissier).

They do have the batteries at Media Markt (Crissier) so I imagine that Meryin will have them as well.

Duracell CHF 7.90 for two batteries.

I was in the Manor in Lausanne today (much smaller than the big one in GVA). They have the AAAA batteries at CHF 5.90 for two.

You might want to try the Manor in GVA if you have not already gone out to the Media Markt. They would be in the photo/electronics area.
