I enclose a link to the Swiss law on the obligation to have medical insurance (in French but Google translate can do wonders!). You will see in article 3 that everyone who resides longer than 3 months must have medical insurance. However in the second paragraph they do say some exceptions are allowed. What is important is that you contact the SAM (Sevice Assurance Medicale - link also below) in Geneva to show evidence of your insurance and ask if it is approved. If you do not do this you will have one automatically imposed on you and be paying 2 premiums.
