Help me decide where to live around Geneva

Hello everybody, i need some advice if you are familiar with the subject.

I have been living in the area for almost two years now (always in France). The first one i was living in Divonne-les-bains, which is a nice place to live in but too expensive and mainly too snob. That is why after a year there and trying to find something really different i decided to move to Morbier (Jura), a beautiful village pass Les Rousses. Here i found friendly and helpfull people and an amazing environment, but driving on snowed roads full of turns is not my very best thing. And even though i got used to the distance, you get in the car and before you know it you are in Nyon or Geneva, i don't think i am willing to do that for a second year.

Now i looking for a place that will have a little bit of everything. A place that will be bigger than a village, so more things to do and i won't  have to spend all my weekends in Geneva. I am familiar with Ferney-Voltaire and Gex but don't really like them. So i was thinking of Thonon-les-bains on the other side of the lake. My job is in Nyon so i guess i can commune with the boats. I have never been there so i would really appreciate any advice from anyone with a similar experience.

Thanks in advance and sorry if my English isn't that good.
