Did the regie (or property owner/manager) do an etat de lieu (inspection) when you moved in? There should have been a form filled out when you moved in outlining the condition of the apartment. And then when you move out, they inspect again and look to see if the forms match. Do you have photos from when you moved in?
From what you've written, I'm thinking you're getting screwed by your company. If it's their name on the lease now, are they ending that or will they rent the apartment to another employee?
I'm sure there are some other more helpful members out there who will give you actual tips/advice on what to do in this situation. I'm really sorry.
Can anyone offer me some advice? I came to Geneva in September 2008 to work for a Company based in Geneva. I took over the rental of an apartment from a member of staff who left and was advised by my company, who at the same time transferred the rental agreement into their name, that i would have to pay 3 months deposit to them, which i did and that equated to 8275 CHF. When i took over the apartment, which looks 40-50 years old, it was in a fair condition, but needed a lick of paint etc. I have not touched the apartment in anyway shape or form cosmetically or indeed marked or damaged it in anyway shape or form.
However, i received a phone call from the company CEO this morning, informing me that the Landlord will be inspecting the property, and he expected it to be immaculate, new paint etc!!!! He also informed me that i could not get my initial deposit back until the landlord released it back to the company, despite my MD agreeing they would pay me the money back before i left verbally. He has said that "As a favour" they will pay me half now. I smell a rat, and believe that i am entitled to my money when i leave, not some time down the line, especially when i will be relocating to another country.
Surely i am entitled to my full deposit back if the apartment is left in the condition i found it when i leave??? Please, can anyone help?
