Holmes Place in Geneva- unexpected membership fee increases?!? anyone?

Hope I am the only one here...


was on corporate membership at CHF 155 per month and the monthly fee is now CHF 200 from 2012...ok, CHF 45 is not much but it is nearly 1/3 of the original membership fee..


the part that annoys me the most is that I was not informed at all..i only found it out after checking my online banking statement..rang up and was very nicely informed 'every year we increase CHF 45 due to the gym maintenance fee..'..great, why don't you just increase up to CHF 2,000 then? lol lol

I'm not with HP but given the many negative opinions about them I'm not surprised.


Check in your contract what it says about fee increases. There are several lawyers here who can give you advice once we know what's written there.

As Glocals recommends Holmes Place membership, I would ask them to intervene on your behalf to ensure that the fees remain those of the previous year.  Tongue out

AGREED. I have been trying to cancel my membership since the start of 2012 and have been actively in touch with them (Emeline Garcia to be exact) since June of this year. I sent 2 registered letters though they only acknowledged one.


In the meantime, each month my payment (which shouldn't even be continuing) changes. August was 223 CHF. September? 356 CHF!!!!! I have tried desperately to get answers from Emeline and the manager Blaise Languin but they do not have any reasons why 356 CHF was charged. Blaise has yet to respond to one email. 


I canceled the direct debit - obviously - and now they'd like to take me to a debt collection agency in Zurich. 


Apparently, they have the right to take out whatever they would like whenever they like. BE AWARE.

This is the same woman who has done this to my friend. If you have correspondance by email, ask you bank or credit card to investigate the charges. 


I would also report them to the agency cited above as well.
