You do not need to do anything. A few weeks before the expiration of your permit. An automatic renewal will come forward to you. You will have to go to the commune to pay the fee and its done.

If you don't want to wait or don't receive the automatic renewal documents from them about a month before your permit expires, you can download the renewal form from the webpage indicated in a previous post and send it with a passport photo and the receipt from the Post Office payment slip up to 3 months before your permit expires. However, they can't/won't process your renewal until the old permit has expired so expect to wait about another 2-3 wks after the expiry date to receive the new one.

Hello Everyone

I have some how managed to lose my permit B.  I also need to update my address.  Does anyone know where I need to start?

Can it be done online etc?

Hi Steve,

It is best to call them on +41 22 546 47 95 regarding the lost permit and they will let you know what form to provide as it is not really mentioned on their website.

Regarding your address change you will need to fill in and send the following document to:

DSE - Office cantonal de la population et des migrations
Route de Chancy 88
1213 Onex
