How do you stop mould growing on bathroom ceiling

Hi all,

I recently noticed some tiny black spots, (mould) on my bathroom ceiling  in one corner. I could easily wipe away with a strong disinfectant/bleach - however, does anyone here has had any experience with this kind of stuff?

What would be your best tip?

And should I let my Regie know?

I do ventilate my apartment every day, but I guess I fell off the radar doing so last couple of days in summer and also the bathroom has one tiny window opening to the (inside of the building).

Appreciate your views.

Best, Diya

Michel thanks, it would be lovely though that when you have the time to suggest your recommendations on this thread. So that in future others with similar queries - know about your expert advice!

Good day,

Yes, except I type with 2 fingers, and would require maybe a 2 minute discussion.

Best,

Michel

Hi Diya,
First recommendation: clean it immediately with strong bleach and scrub really hard to remove every possible mould. Individual mould cells will penetrate every single microscopic crack in your ceiling and the population will persist if it manages to penetrate deeper.

Mould thrives in dark and humid environments. You may not be able to change the amount of light reaching the areas at risk, but you can reduce the humidity by keeping yor bathroom aerated and using humidity absorbers which you can find in supermarkets. See the photo attached.

Scrub the places with vinegar. Is healthy, cheap and prevents future mould.

Open windows, doors after showers to avoid humidity from building up.

Hi all,

Super kind of you for all these recommendations. And sorry to come in late, as I keep forgetting glocal notification goes into a hidden tab in my Gmail.

I am doing the needful which is to say bleach spray and aeration so far so good. And I had a mild attack, nothing alarming.

Once again, thank you!

Diya
