How long does it take for your application for a flat to get approved?

Hi,

as in the title: how long did you take before you found out, if your flat approval got accepted? What are your experiences with flat searching? I started with high hopes, but then I started reading more about the situation, and it is so difficult. How long did it take for you to get to rent a flat? Thank you all in advance for your help!

I think it taqkes about 3 monts on average for people to find a flat. Regarding the application, it depends how far in the future the move in date is. Anything from a couple of hours to a couple of weeks. Lots of times they will not notify you that your application has been rejected, you have to call and ask.

Good hunting!

Catalin is very right in his comments. I would just add that not only the move in date can play a role in the decision making, but also the situation of the flat. If it's a flat that is in the hands of the regie, empty and they're showing it, the decision is hours to 10 days. If the flat is someone trying to take over their lease, it can get a lot more complicated and will certianly take longer than a few days if the tenant is just cancelling their lease.

So if you applied already, and waited for an answer, it would be better to keep going to visits, right? Is it true that you can apply to one flat at a time? It is just crazy with the flats' situation here. :)

You should definitely keep applying, there is no restriction. Only when they call you, you have to tell them Yes/No and once you have accepted there can be a penalty if you change your mind.

Assuming you drafted a short list of the flats you liked and decided to bid on them you simply give a reasonable evaluation time to regie/landlord and you ring them directly asking for feedback. When you get a positive answer depends on the sortlist position of said flat. You decide for a yes when # 1 or delay yr final answer when not in top rank as long as yr First prefered flat  has not received final Y/N from Regie. Simple. Have a nice Easter break.
