How to claim tax when I come back from Annecy or other Schengen states by bus
Jan 18, 2009 @ 22:27
Here is the question. I am planning to go to Annecy/Munich/Milan/Vienna and buy a few things and i want to claim tax back. NOrmally when I go to lyon there is a tax reclaim of France just as you go outside the train. But when I come back from Munich (Germany) by train or from Annecy (France) by bus or from Milan (Italy) by train/or say by car what am I supposed to do? Thanks.

In France, I always collected the tax where I bought the item. You can always try to pay by credit card and using two slips: One for the price without the tax, and one for the tax. If the sellers get the papers for the deduction in due time, they don't cash the tax. If you do not send it back, then they can collect it. That's a quite unsual way and it does not work everywhere.
I already gave a few links to Swiss and French customs in this post
