How to get course paid for by canton
Hi

I understood from a friend at work that if you have lived in Geneva for over a year it is possible to get some training paid for by the canton of Geneva.  I am taking a French course over the summer and am wondering where I go to find the information about this.

Can anyone help?

it's called the "yearly training check" (cheque annuel de formation) and is delivered by the State of Geneva Department of Public Education

in a nutshell, you must be a legal resident in GVA for more than a year (or be frontalier-working-in-GVA also for more than a year) AND pay your regular income taxes in Geneva (tax returns) AND your gross income is no more than 88kCHF

If you qualify you can request a "cheque" online via their website http://www.geneve.ch/caf/

...and yes, it's in French... public administrations have a sick sense of derision lol
