How to get my big boxes from La Poste to Home?
Hi folks!

I had shipped three big (65 lb.) boxes of my personal belongings from the US to my new apartment in Geneva, however, it turns out the post office (la poste) doesn't deliver them to my front door (!) and now I need to get them to my apartment somehow. They are currently sitting at the post office at 47 Rue du 31 Decembre and I'm literally about a ten minute walk away, but they are just too heavy to carry down the street... do I need to hire movers for this or what is the best way to get them home? Does the post office rent out dolly's or anything? I don't really want to spend a lot of money just to move them down the street because it already cost me over $500 to mail them!

Thanks for your help, I'm new in town and still trying to figure all this stuff out! :)

Hi,

You can take a mobility car for 1-2 hours

I think it's the easiest solution

Thanks reffael, this looks promising :)

I've never driven in Switzerland before, so hopefully this won't be too difficult!

From what I've been hearing, taxis aren't the "nicest" or most available service in Geneva and it doesn't help that I don't speak French (yet!). I'd also need one with a pretty big trunk area since there are three big boxes (65 lbs. each!) just to go down the street.

I called a few places and someone suggested trying to negotiate with the post office to borrow/rent a dolly for an hour.. so I'm gonna try that first vs. shelling out for a rental car and trying to a drive around a city I've only been in for a day ;)
