a small shop , its too open ended question, be more specific because like regulations depend on Sevices, Food types, alcohol, tobacco, etc.

First thing: location! location! location!

Geneva people don't like to walk much. So it has to be situated near a bus/tram stop, a parking area, etc. Easily accessible.

If you find such a spot, be prepared to pay a hefty rent. Location comes at a price. But don't settle for less. Cheap rents usually mean poor business.

Then it's about having at least a C permit in order to be able to rent a space and run it. Or setting up a company (SA).

Good luck in your future endeavors!
