I am looking for a trainer for running.

Hello all willing to help.
So, I would like to start running. Therefore, I am looking for a person who would help me get started (as well as teach the principles of good running: breathing, dress, etc. A small note: I have a problem with colic and I want to eliminate it).
The stated goal: either try to participate in the marathon Geneva in May or escalade in December.

Waiting for your reply.

Hi Paula,

I was 34 when I started running. Before that I had zero interest in running but stress and excessive weight gain after moving to Geneva propelled me to hit the open road. Now I've got two half-marathons under my belt and I am currently training for a full. Unless you have an medical condition that suggests you should not be running (check your doctor), you can do this no matter what age or fitness level you are at right now.

Assuming your fitness level is low, I would suggest you start by jogging for one minute and then walking for one minute for up to one kilometer, say three times a week. Then try jogging for two minutes and then walking for one minute. Work up to jogging for 10 minutes and walking for one minute. Once you can jog for ten minutes then increase your distance. Try increasing your distance by no more than 10% a week.

In the beginning, you might feel like total crap but it definitely gets easier. Don't worry about speed. Your first set of goals should be on how much time you can spend on your feet. Eventually switch your goals to distance, and then speed.

Other things to consider:

Music is a great motivator.

Properly fitted running shoes (you need to go to a running store for this) are necessary. They're expensive but totally worth it. Even if you decide after a few runs that you hate it and never want to do it again, these shoes will still love your feet during long walks and long lines. However, it should be said that once you buy running shoes for running....only use them for running. The support in the shoes will only last 300-500 miles, which sounds like a lot but adds up if your walking around in them.

Never wear cotton fabric.

Fitness for running is a gradual, hard-earned process that is easily lost if you stop cardio for more than two weeks. Having a weekly schedule will make you more committed and you will be less likely to miss a run.

Try to run with your feet under you, landing on your mid-sole.

Any other questions, don't hesitate to ask. Disclaimer: I'm not an expert.... I've just read a lot on the subject ;)

Hi,

I'm not the running expert, I did 2 marathons, but I'm a sports trainer(boxing and self-defense). If you are interested, I can give you a piece of advice totally for free as I have run for 15 years on a regular basic. If interested, pls let me know.

If you are looking for a small group to learn to run, check out No Treadmills (http://www.no-treadmills.ch/). Julia is a personal trainer but has started up some group classes which include beginner running sessions 2 times per week.

I started doing the running group in September (and am a hopeless runner!) but i managed to finish the Escalade in December.
