I have a question about 'Permi'

Hello,

I'm currently waiting for my visa to be issued in order to start my internship in Geneva for six months.

I was told visa process would take about 8 weeks but it's been already 11 weeks and I haven't heard of it. :(

The thing is I already bought the flight ticket to Geneva which is sadly non-refundable.

My departure date is in two weeks and I doubt that my visa would be issued before that.

I'm not even sure if i can put off the flight schedule with the panelty.

Anyways, I guess I could just enter Swiss with travel visa, start an internship and get the long-term visa later directly in Swiss or in neighboring countries.

But, I was also told that in this case, i might be refused in requesting Permi because they found out that I entered Swiss without proper visa..

Is that right?

I'm so worried and have no one around to ask about these questions..

so confusing :(

I guess the best way is just to wait for my visa to be issued..

but I've already watied for so long and i feel like it's the waste of time and money..!

I'm waiting for your replies!

Have a great day :)

This is something your employer should be taking care of. Did you contact the HR department of the company you are going to work for?

1. Get in touch with the Swiss embassy in your country. Check whether you need visa. Usually, Swiss embassies issue you a visa in less than 10 days, even earlier. If it takes long, then it's very likely that your company didn't provide the embassy with the necessary docs.

2. Get in touch with the HR of the inviting company. Check if they have submitted all the necessary docs. Double-check it with the embassy. If you're going to do an internship in an int. organization, then getting visa shall be even easier.

Good luck!

Sado, I am not aware if your citizenship requires entry visa. Should this be the case than you can get quickly a turist visa valid 3 months.  When you are going to work here than your employer is responsible to obtein work permit for you. Where you asked to send them 2 passport photos ? and have you co-signed a permit request ?  If so than your employer has started the w. permit process.  By the way is your employer 1) a international organisation like UN, WHO, WTO , NGO or 2) rather private business company ?  It seems to me strange that they would not give you exact instructions. In any case I would arrive on turist visa and settle down work permit question with the employer upon arrival.  Good luck.
