Paying taxes doesn't mean you won't have to clean up after your dog.

if that was the case, I can't imagine what streets would look like....

here is what the law says about it.

Art. 21 Déjections canines
1 Il incombe au détenteur d'empêcher son chien de souiller
le domaine public, les cultures et les espaces naturels.
2 Il doit en particulier ramasser les
déjections de celui-ci.
3 Les communes mettent à la disposition des détenteurs les
moyens nécessaires au ramassage des déjections.

Sorry My ignorance. I thought you paid this arbitray tax and you were made exempt from picking up poo because I could think of no other reason why someone would tax your dog. I do wonder where the proceeds go!

Nicholas - I do indeed pay the tax and I do indeed pick up my poo !! But in saying that I would also like to know what the tax is for or is it a case of "well thats Switzerland !!"

If that's the case I would think the dog is free to poo anywhere it wants or expect some kind of benefit for him/her.... like dog parks in the community or things of that sort.  Otherwise, the dog and the owner are getting ripped off big time, and both should be barking in anger.  

Well watch out or they will collar you as well !!

I guess it at least pays for the poo bag dispensers that can be found around the city. And the dog park at Parc Bertrand is decent. Otherwise, can't think of other "benefits" dogs and owners get.. :/
