we take our 4 month old labrador to malagnou park or park bertrand most mornings and sometimes in the afternoon.  you are welcome to bring your puppy to meet her.

Ooo park bertrand is right by my house, if you go Maria you and puppy are welcome to stop by for a coffee/bowl of water after :)

Maria, when socializing dont bring your dog to a Park where a lot of dogs run loose, you risk your puppy getting a bad experience - it is a lot better to arrange "social gatherings" for your little new family member and make sure the socializing is done in controlled environments :-)

Right next to my house there is a little fenced area where dogs can run free and play but it is not the entire park and it is pretty easy to control what happens in that little area - find a place like that :-)

Me and my little dog would love to meet and play, she has been lacking her weekly social gatherings since we came to Geneva

@Caroline. Can you tell me exactly where this place is? Little Whiskey has loads of energy and i just cannot keep up with him!!

Maria, I live in GD Saconnex, but there must be other little areas like this - I just think it is important to not just let your dog loose because he should socialize, it is important to do, but also to do at the right pace.

Did he have all his vaccinations etc.?

I guess you have read about the race you have gotten yourself already, I can see you have a dog that will need A LOT of stimulation and exercise, both mentally and physically - if you have not done so already start training him daily, the more you stimulate him mentally the more tired he will become :-)

For some dogs a lot of exercise is not always tiring but the opposite as they are presented to so many smells and impressions while out, that they actually become more aware and awake :-)

@Caroline My puppy is just 6kg so its tiny :P Well not that tiny but anyway. The little guy has loads of energy and loves to run around. Unfortunately our neighbourhood is full of cars so i cant let him loose. And on a 3m leash there is not much place he can run. He is fully vaccinated and very healthy. We started training him but as you said too many smells and impressions at once and he goes nuts!!

Would love to meet for a play date. Due to work i can only do Sunday afternoon this weekend. How abou the place in Gd Sacconex. Just tell me exactly were it is. If we fix the time i will put it in activities.

unfortunately geneva has very few fenced off places that allows you to have your dog off leash.  we had the same concerns as caroline about letting our dog play with the bigger ones in the dog park.  when we weighed up the options, we decided the importance of her socialising with other dogs outweighed the risk of nasty dogs going after her, and thankfully, there have been no problems so far.  our puppy is very sociable with all dogs big and small, and we are happy we have had her at the park from an early age.

btw, it is also particularly important you get her off leash ASAP, as at this age she will not want to go too far from your side.  if you wait too long before allowing her off leash, you may end up with a dog that doesnt come to you when called.

Hi Maria, it is just opposite the COOP in Chemin Terroux/Chemin Édouard Sarasin :-) Parking right next to.

And.... letting your dog off leash is a matter of training and not "to do it when it is young". A dog which is 2 months old and just moved from its own heard will off course stick to its new heard (meaning you) but as soon as it gets a little braver it will start to explore the new world. 

If you train your dog to stay with you, you might succeed in having a dog that does that, however in my eyes it is a matter of the race of the dog as well as its temper - some dogs have tendencies to stray where as others do not... Some dogs are easier to train than others it is as easy as that. In my world I do not let my dog of the leash normally as I know that she can suddenly get distracted by something on the other side of the street...

Hi ...I recomend a big park in the woods in Genthod...is fenced and very big...I used to take my dog a female Golden Retreiver she is almost 14 years old and very happy to play too.... This park in Genthod is very good summer time, you can take the dogs for a swim and even swim with then...I always take my dog...

also the vet in Bellevue ...have clases for dogs...

Hi Genthod is taking route du Lac after Bellevue...behind the train line...to go to the park by bus take bus V there is bus stop at the entrace of the park....by car take route du Lac and turn left in the round about after Bellevue and the right keep going...where the Genthod Tennis Club is .....My dog love that park and swimming in summer is great for dogs and us too....

I am looking forward to celebrate my dog 14 years birthday in May..she is a veterana...but a very happy dog..she loves swimming ....when you are in the park in the wood look for a very dark tunnel...that tunnel will take you to the lake...there is a ramp for the dogs to go into the lake....

yes, we walked down under the tunnel to the lake, then back up through the woods and around the open field.  Snapper (our pup) loved it!  We thought we were lucky living so close to park bertrand....now we want to move to genthod!

ok wait for summer and then you will see....swimming with Snapper in the lake....I live close....I always take my dog there...but now she is getting old...

Ok first activity posted! Will try to do this a weekly event and try a different place each time :)
