Is there a French prepaid SIM that can be used with EU roaming charges in Switzerland.. ?

Since i'm living In France just over the border from Geneva I'm searching for a French mobile phone provider which offers a SIM card, preferably prepaid, with affordable EU roaming rates, and which can also be used with the same rates in Switzerland. If such a dream offer exists :)

Before visiting some shops I've been researching online a bit and found this info on http://prepaid-data-sim-card.wikia.com/wiki/France "all allowances can be used for roaming in the EU too at domestic French rates under the Roam like at home principle. Contrary to many other European carriers, roam like at home also works in Switzerland... "

I'll surely go and ask at a couple of the French service providers shops but sincce they're not always treasure troves of useful info I thought I'd employ the wisdom of you crowd :) Have any of you found affordable cross border offers.. ? preferably prepaid.

Thanx for reading and for news of your experiences, and tips on this topic.. ! Derek

Hey Derek,

The only French operator that applies EU-like roaming policy to Switzerland (calls, texts and data) is Orange and their engagement-free subsection Sosh. Like many other French operators, Sosh do regular offers, usually running for a year and you can cancel/change any time.

At the moment Sosh do a 4,99€ per month offer (valid until 12 June) and you will get free calls, texts and 20 gigs of monthly data allowance with it.

You can see more on their site:

Good luck!

Hello, "The only French operator that applies EU-like roaming policy to Switzerland (calls, texts and data) is Orange and their engagement-free subsection Sosh"

Not the only one, SFR at least with the engagement free RED for 20 EUR/month has done something by including Switzerland for SMS, calls (in and outbound), and part of data.

Yes, I have just checked and SFR indeed include Switzerland in their 20€ per month plan, but this is recent and gives you a 10 gigs of data per month. Sosh (Orange) offer you 20 gigs for 4,99€ per month for a year. After one year it will automatically migrate to 19,99 per month, unless cancelled. So Orange still offer more data, a better mobile network (Orange is No 1 in France) and better price with the offer.

If you're happy to go with Sosh, you may use this referral link allowing us to both get 1 month free: https://parrainage.sosh.fr/filleul?hash=7579f566b504d73a4bf4417e3f2954018d8bd5d9261a42de659f005a40023262&utm_medium=copiercoller&utm_source=DMD&utm_campaign=fil-rouge_fr_sosh_mob_par_eml_crm_dmd_tf_parrainage-Invitation-Copiercoller

(this can be cumulated with the current promotion offer of 20 GO for 4.99 € / month on the first year)

The Sosh offer is great indeed, but you may not be able to subscribe to it at a regular Orange shop, as Sosh is effectively Orange’s online sub-brand.

You might be better off sitting down in front of a computer with your nearest French-speaking friend and filling up the subscription fields together. It’s quite straightforward, just make sure you have your French IBAN and card at hand.
