Advice needed urgently! I came to Zurich to work as an au-pair/nanny some time ago, everything was O.K., I had fun, and felt in love with Switzerland, but family, for whom I was working, just told me, that they are going to move to USA, and they won't need me anymore:crying:, so, I'm in a trouble now, because I don't have an idea, what to do in a future, and I absolutely don't want to go back to my home country now. I can stay here quite long, because Latvia is one of the Schengen countries, and nobody will send me away, but I need to live somewhere, and to eat something as well, so, I need a job!
Advice me,PLEASE, how can I find any job in Zurich? I'm too old, to became an Au-Pair for one-more time, I just need my own time and space.
I have worked in several positions in Latvia before, I know office work, have been a marketing manager as well, with not bad success. In fact, in this situation, I can do anything for a living. I'm ready even to be a cleaning girl, if it's necessary to stay here. The problem is, that still I don't know German too good, my host- family is native Russian speakers, all my mates here are speaking English, and it didn't improve my German skills it too much...
Feel free to drop me a line, if you got any ideas, or you just need a secretary, or a babysitter in Zurich:doze:

hi, i think that in your situation you should try the obvious ( which is often overlooked when you can't see things objectivly). Why not ask your host family if they can recomend you to any of their friends. they must have a group of friends that would need your skills ( au pair or whatever) or know of some people that might want to offer you some kind of employment. in a way, they kind of owe you........you were after all, working here because of them, they should at least try and use their network to help you out. have you asked them?

yes, they are not bad people, and they even feel guilty about this situation,they are using their friend network to settle me down somewhere, but it doesn't help yet. :(
