Jogging Geneva

Hey,

I live in Plainpalais close to Unimail and I was wondering about where to go jogging. I run about 8-10km and I would appreciate seeing as little cars as possible!!! I went for a run at the lake (Eaux Vives) today, but I did not find the cars very appealing. Happy about any kind of info or joining other runners...

Kind regards

Phil

Hi Phil,

I think it's much better on the other side of the lake, there's the botanic garden, no cars and very quiet.

Try it. I think i'll start jogging next monday.

Keep in touch, just in case...

Probably of no use to you as it would appear you are a lone jogger but there are two groups that post on glocals the Geneva. One is the Geneva runners group which meets at Bain de Pacquis the other is the hash house harriers.  The hash which is a world wide group originally set up in Malaysia in the 30's by rubber planters who felt they were binge drinking and therefore to correct this went for a run which started at their local (the Hash House) and finished there.  It spread after the war and there are groups everywhere.  The advantage is that the runs are set in different parts of the canton and France voisine and you really get to know the whole canton.  They are usually off road.  The other advantage is that it is geared to beer drinkers.  WE run between 8 and 12 km.  It is like a paperchase so you have to find the route and this allows the fater runners to cover more distance than the slower runners but for training purposes this inot so good as who are not running constantly.  Plus we stop for a beer after about 7 km because we are a drinking club with a running problem.  But we do have serious runners among us (under 4 hour marathon runners) top ten tour de canton runner, a dozen escalade elite runners plus at the other end of the scale old lags like me and walkers. www.genevahhh.com/ but if this is not you cup of tea just drive to the edge of the city where you can find trails anywhere

As to the  GVA runners,  a group of expats and locals of all ages with a running problem. (we do like our beers too)Wink

After our runs we tend to go for a beer or two (in summer La Terrasse, in winter the Clubhouse)

To us : We are runners of all abilities, including those enjoying an evening walk in the company of friends.

We have now over 310 members in Geneva, I would say we have some the top runners in town, (the one’s who 2 marathons a month, and we have many triathlon guys, even Iron man athlets)

Mondays & Wednesdays we run between 8 – 15km, Saturdays between 8 – 21km.

To you: A chance to exercise and socialize.

As to our runs, we run along the lake, in the park, etc.

Come and check it  out, we would love to meet you Cool

What about running around the parks?  If you were in Eaux Vives why not try in the Parc le Grange/Eaux-Vives?  If you don't want to run laps  but point to point then it may be a bit more of a problem but its a pretty big park and I'm sure you could get a car free run, ppl with prams on the other hand are another thing altogether, something I never had to deal with running in Australia...

Wow, it is exactly what I want to ask. I am in Acacias, is there any good place for a jogging?
