I bought a Leitz A4 size years ago, for maybe 200 euros. Have used it lots since, very useful for many purposes. I don't think there's anything magical to their insides. The Leitz works very well so i can recommend that. Maybe you can find a good deal on the internet, but I don't think you'll save oodles of money by spending a lot of time going around to different places. They're not that expensive to begin with. Or you can try finding one used, on Anibis.ch for example.
