There is a language school on the rue de Rothschild. Not sure if you are a drinker but if you come out of Pickwick's thurn left to walk down rue de Lausanne towards the station and rue R. is second on the left and the building entrance is 20 metres down on the left. They do beginners, intermediate and advanced courses usually in groups of a dozen or less. Their method is quite good in that it is proactive. You have to take part. I went on the advanced course for a couple of months which was interesting but at that level quite frankly it is more use to spend the time reading and talking to people. Hoowever the beginners and intermediate are useful. When I went they were very welcoming and gave me quite a long language test before deciding which group I should go into. Other members of the group who had some knowledge of Ifag and Migros were very positive about this school. Cannot remember the name but am sure some glocal can. Also I think if you pay taxes in Geneva you have the right for free French lessons but these are not very good as are carried by trainee teachers and the groups are of mixed. But, not sure if you read an article recently in the Telegraph. French has just been ousted from the top ten GCSEs and in the article it mentions that as most French menus have English translations underneath, there is absolutely no need to learn the language. So, do you really want to spend your money only to find that no matter how well you speak, a Parisian, when he realises from your accent that you are a rosbif, will simply double the speed at which he speaks. There are plenty of my French for your English proposals on glocals but they are probably not intensive unless the one offering the service s a very attractive member of the opposite sex
