Legal Protection Insurance
Has anyone here used "Legal Protection Insurance"? What can they really do and are they really helpful in terms of representing you in the case so you you don't have to waste the time and hopefully win law suit in the case of individual Vs institution?

Re: Legal Protection Insurance

Hey Logica,

I just used it last week with garage (details below), and I know of a friend who used them (with success) in a claim against her ex employer.

Here's how I used them:

  • I got my car fixed at a new garage last week.
  • When I came to pick up the car from the garage (it was there overnight), I saw it had an extra 150 KM on the clock!
  • I asked the owner what happended, and he claimed I had the numbers wrong.
  • I spoke with my legal protection insurance, and their lawyer wrote to the garage (a real scary letter, even I was scared!)
  • As soon as the garage got it, they folded, and claimed a stray emplyee took the car, and that they'll compensate me. So just the fact of having this insurance can help. And if the case would have gotten to court, I would have really saved a lot of money.

Net, recommended.

I can highly recommend Assista (TCS - Swiss Touring Club).

They have a number of different insurance products. Including anything associated with driving as well as basic legal insurance.

Here is the legal insurance one:

You can click on the PDFs to get more details.

Isa413,  thanks a lot for your note for sharing both experiences. My case might be similiar to your second one since it's me against the local gov't. I will see and will remember to post a note afterwards.

Logica:

Good luck in going up against the big boys!

Your case is specific, and I would consult with an expert on which Legal Insurance company to use fro it. I can strongly recommend our own insurance broker, who has an overview of all the Legal Insurance firms out there and who can give you free good advice:

Ardian (speaks English), from Helvetia-Wealth Insurance, on: [email protected]

Good luck!

Hi Isa413, thanks for sharing the details. Always good to be prepared as much as one can.  Our case it's a little bit complicated, and we have already asked a laywer to look into the details. But on the other side, we haven't got good news from the insurance yet, i.e. will or how they can help...:(

I'm running out of the office so short answer but:

- Yes, assista is good, and be careful not to get 2 legal insurance, many people do without knowing.

- Most of the companies are more or less the same for this. I have a contract with generali, they do something quite good, you can ask some questions without having to fill a case, if it's just for a little thing you need to know it's useful. I luckily never had to use it so far, but I'm quite happy to spend these 335 chf a year for nothing ;)

- It will not cover you for a case you already have, or a case that you know will happen.

- it will not cover you for familly law things. So no, taking a legal insurance then telling your wife you want to divorce will not help you.
