Long weekend alpes chalet hire - any ideas?

Hi there,

I'm looking to rent a chalet or similar close to Geneva (within 2hrs preferably) for a long weekend in August for a group of friends - between 6-12 of us. Any suggestions of good resorts and places to stay would be gratefully appreciated!

Crans Montana I found was nice on my one visit there. Check on booking.com for something perhaps.

Impossible to suggest anywhere without knowing what sort of environment you are looking for: lake, mountains, countryside, small town, village

Trawl the internet putting down for instance farm stay, chalet in mountains or go to the big sites as Jeffery suggests.  There are all sorts of availabilities

Would a chalet in La Tzoumaz suits you? Very beautiful view and cosy for 10.

Check out airbnb I'm a member in the uk and have sourced places to stay in geneva and currently in a farmhouse in france for a few months whilst we secure a long lease in the area. You can search by destination and then add to favourites for future reference. so I already have places in zermatt, morzine, chamonix, verbier and a whole host of other destinations saved down. It works on an ebay feedback system so you can see what other people have to say about the place and you as a guest. It's blowing the doors of the hotel industry at the mo, currently valued at circa $10b and causing a bit of a stir in the press.

Ive ve also booked this for next week just outside morzine, they'll do a summer rate for you. It's on the way to the ardent ski lift so a short drive from morzine itself.  As others have said it depends on what you want and where you want to be, if you are willing to drive etc.

Check out homelidays.com. Chalet and apartment owners use it to advertise and take reservations.
